IFANCA participated in a Halal Food Management workshop in Lahore, Pakistan

From June 4th to 5th, 2012, IFANCA, in collaboration with the Halal Research Council, the National Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFSAT), the Pakistan Society of Food Science and Technology (PSFST), and the Lahore Meat Corporation, held a two-day workshop in Lahore, Pakistan, on Halal food management. Professor Javaid A. Awan, IFANCA's representative in Pakistan, and Dr. Mian N. Riaz, Director of the Food Protein Research and Development Center at Texas A&M University, served as speakers at the event.
The purpose of this Halal trainingThe main purpose of this halal food management workshop training is to emphasize the potential of halal exports and the halal international market, and to show the importance of halal food consumption, so as to enable consumers to establish halal concepts.
"As a Muslim-majority country, halal is not unfamiliar in Pakistan. However, few people explore halal as a business proposition. Manufacturers interested in understanding halal standards in different export markets should definitely not miss this training," said Dr. Awang. "Similarly, businesses looking to enter the food market can use this opportunity to understand the importance of halal certification in the processed food industry."
