On August 18, 2019, the 2019 First Poyang Lake Agriculture and Forestry Industry Innovation and Development Summit Forum (the "Poyang Lake Forum") was held in Nanchang and concluded successfully. It was jointly hosted by Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, the National Agricultural Science and Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation Alliance, and Jiangxi Water Conservancy Investment Group Co., Ltd., and jointly organized by the Science and Technology Finance Research Center of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and Jiangxi Water Investment Ecological Resources Development Group Co., Ltd.
Under the theme "Technological Innovation Empowers and Reshapes Green Ecological Value," the first Poyang Lake Forum stood at the technological frontier to explore the future of agriculture, craft quality with dedication, promote Jiangxi brands, share success stories, and advance rural revitalization, committed to promoting information exchange and project cooperation among government and enterprises, across industries, and between enterprises, and to advancing high-quality development of Jiangxi's agriculture and forestry industry through technological innovation. The forum received active support from more than 300 enterprises, over 50 procurement units and over 20 investment and financing institutions from within and outside the province, and many well-known media from inside and outside the province attended and reported on the event.
The Poyang Lake Forum specially invited Liu Jian, Counselor of the State Council and former director of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation, to serve as honorary chairman of the forum. Lu Fucai, President of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, served as chairman of the forum. Political and business figures who attended included Zhang Hongyu, deputy dean of the China Institute for Rural Studies at Tsinghua University and former director of the Department of Policy and Reform of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Jiang Jinfa, deputy party secretary of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics; Qi Wei, chairman of Jiangxi Water Conservancy Investment Group; Li Tongbin, executive president and secretary-general of the National Agricultural Science and Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation Alliance; Gui Hefa, director of the Science and Technology Finance Research Center of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics; and Qiao Zhiwei, founder of Tianxia Xingnong and general manager of the agricultural development department of the X business division.
At the opening ceremony, Liu Jian - Counselor of the State Council, former director of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation, and former vice minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs - proposed that the key for agriculture and forestry enterprises to develop is to make their products deep, refined and strong. He hoped the Poyang Lake Forum would conduct in-depth discussions on the future direction, path, theory and technological innovation of China's agriculture, and become an influential national forum.
Zhang Hongyu - deputy dean of the China Institute for Rural Studies at Tsinghua University, former director of the Department of Rural Economic System and Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and vice president of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Economics - stressed adhering to serving rural revitalization and to having the top party and government leaders take charge of rural revitalization. Rural revitalization concerns the long term and the fundamentals, but industrial prosperity and industrial revitalization are the top priority and the foundation.
Qi Wei, chairman of Jiangxi Water Conservancy Investment Group Co., Ltd., shared with the agriculture and forestry entrepreneurs present the group's brand-building journey, using its successful experience of cross-sector transformation to boost Jiangxi's green rise. Hu Haiqing, founder of Beijing Tianxia Xingnong, delivered a speech titled "Cultural and Creative Empowerment: The Practice of Reshaping Agricultural Product Brands." He noted that one current reality facing agricultural products is that many very good products cannot fetch good prices or markets. The reasons: first, whether the material-level customer benefits are clearly expressed in language customers understand; second, the cultural added value, specifically whether high-quality local agricultural products can be well combined with their ecological culture, historical heritage, etc. We must combine the material benefits of high-quality agricultural products with their cultural value into a commercial brand, express the primacy and uniqueness of agricultural products, and integrate craftsmanship with brand expression - only then can high-quality agricultural products have a brand and a market and sell at their true value.
The "Production-Marketing Linkage, Brand Agriculture, and Integration of the Three Industries" forum invited well-known entrepreneurs and planners, including the head of the agricultural development department of JD Group's X business division, a partner of AlphaMaster (Beijing) Management Consulting Group, and the head of the China Rural Revitalization Yuanjiacun research group. In the speech "The JD Farm Model: Exploring the Path of Brand Agriculture," Qiao Zhiwei, head of the agricultural development department of JD Group's X business division, inspired new development ideas for Jiangxi's agriculture and forestry enterprises by interpreting the relationship between digital agriculture and the "JINGPINYUAN" proprietary platform for quality agricultural products.
