Bandar Seri Begawan, December (Xinhua) - Brunei government officials said they very much welcome foreign businesses to directly invest in the Halal food industry here.
Brunei's Deputy Minister of Finance Dato Mohd Amin Liew told Xinhua reporters on Friday that Brunei will engage in close cooperation on the Halal food industry with other countries, including China.
"Brunei's Halal food is our advantage, and other companies such as Chinese companies can make use of our Halal certification and make it easier to export Halal products from here," the official told reporters.
"We have already established many overseas markets with various foreign partners," added Dato Mohd Amin Liew, chairman of the board of Ghanim International.
According to its website, Ghanim International "develops, sells and promotes high-quality Halal food under the Brunei Halal food brand, with production bases and reliable suppliers around the world."
According to Nur Rahman, co-CEO of Ghanim International on the Brunei Halal food export portal: "We export to many markets, including China. We are also looking for special partners to promote Brunei Halal food to their markets," he said.
