Indonesia BPJPH Certification Case: Yunkang Great Health Industry (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd.

In September this year, the seminar "Opportunities and Challenges in the ASEAN Pharmaceutical Market" was held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. At the meeting, Indonesia's Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics (LPPOM) emphasized that drugs and all kinds of products entering the Indonesian market for circulation must have Halal certification. As early as October 17, 2019, the Indonesian government began formulating regulations on mandatory Halal product certification, and Indonesia's Law No. 33 of 2014 reaffirmed this. However, considering that there were still many things to prepare, the Indonesian government provided a transitional preparation period by product type.

According to the regulations, as the director of LPPOM MUI's Halal audit service - a Halal inspection body - explained, the mandatory transition period for Halal products will be divided into five phases by product category:

1. Food and beverages: October 17, 2019 to October 17, 2024

2. Traditional medicines and supplements: October 17, 2021 to October 17, 2026

3. Over-the-counter drugs and limited over-the-counter drugs: October 17, 2021 to October 17, 2029

4. Potent drugs (excluding psychotropic drugs): October 17, 2021 to October 17, 2034

5. Cosmetics, chemical products, and genetically engineered products: October 17, 2021 to October 17, 2026
