2025-05-15
In a major move to strengthen quality assurance of halal products, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with BPJPH-HALAL in Indonesia and MUIS-HALAL in Singapore.
The second MOU with Singapore's MUIS mirrors the objectives of the first, focusing on conformity assessment, standards, specifications, and technical regulations for halal certificates. It also emphasizes mutual recognition of local products for export and the exchange of expertise in various areas related to halal product quality assurance. Hisham Aljadhey of the SFDA and the CEO of Singapore's MUIS signed the MOU in the presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy.
Both agreements demonstrate the commitment of all parties involved to strengthen cooperation to ensure the quality and recognition of halal products.
The SFDA’s efforts, including the establishment of the Saudi Halal Center, are aligned with initiatives under the National Transformation Program, aimed at facilitating import and export procedures and supporting the global competitiveness of local products.
