Philippines and Malaysia explore halal industry trade and economic cooperation

The Philippines and Malaysia will continue their political and economic cooperation and have agreed to restart joint meetings and exploreHalalIndustry trade opportunities.
Earlier, Philippine President Marcos and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar3moon1The bilateral meeting was held on Wednesday, June 1. Anwar was the first head of government to be received by the Marcos administration.
"We agreed to continue cooperation on political, political and security matters, to relaunch joint committee meetings, and to undertake joint actions to combat transnational crime and terrorism," Marcos Jr. said in a joint press statement Wednesday evening.
Anwar added that the meeting will be chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries later this year.

Anwar said:“We did discuss the South China Sea issue, and I share President Marcos' concern that due to the complexity and sensitivity of this issue, we should try to engage and take a position at the multilateral level among ASEAN so that we can have a comprehensive approach and reach an amicable solution to this outstanding issue.”
The two leaders also pledged to expand trade and investment opportunities to kick-start post-pandemic recovery.
Marcos Jr. said:“We agree to revitalize trade and investment exchanges, with a particular focus onHalalIndustry, agriculture and food security, and the digital economy.”
Anwar will stay in the Philippines until3moon2He will be awarded an honorary degree from the University of the Philippines on Thursday in recognition of his contributions to democracy, economics and Islam.
He will also deliver a speech titled "Asia's Renaissance30After the New Year:ASEAN's strategic priorities”public speaking.
