Classification of Kosher Certificates
2025-05-15
KOSHER certificates are usually divided into the following categories
1. Kosher Money (KosherNeutral products)
Kosher Pareve products do not contain any meat or dairy ingredients. Therefore, in addition to those who must consume kosher products for religious reasons, they are also an excellent choice for those with lactose intolerance (lactose allergy). Pareve foods can be consumed with either kosher meat or kosher dairy products. Meat and dairy are discussed below.
2. Kosher Passover
Kosher Passover products are certified to comply with Passover regulations. According to the Jewish Old Testament, Passover is also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread. During Passover, no leavened food may be consumed; all leavened materials must be removed. Passover, which lasts seven or eight days, commemorates God's guidance to the Jewish prophet Moses to lead the Jewish people out of Egypt, ending over 400 years of exile. Passover literally means "passing over" (i.e., passing through the tribulation and arriving in the promised land of Canaan, entering a new beginning and severing ties with the past). Because Kosher Passover products are specifically certified for Passover, they do not contain any leavened ingredients. They also do not contain foods made from barley, rye, oats, wheat, or spelt, or foods containing corn, soybean oil, corn syrup, dextrose, or any legumes. Jews in European countries also avoid cereals like corn, rice, legumes, and sesame. Therefore, kosher Passover products contain no gluten. Therefore, kosher Passover products are popular not only among Jewish consumers who must consume them for Passover religious reasons, but also among those with gluten allergies. Statistics show that gluten allergy affects 4% of the European population. Gluten allergy is a lifelong condition, requiring sufferers to strictly limit their gluten intake throughout their lives.
3. Kosher Meat (Kosher products containing meat ingredients)
Kosher Meat means that the certified Kosher product contains meat ingredients (accurate to the smallest trace level). According to the Old Testament of the Jewish Bible, meat cannot be consumed at the same time as milk (if meat is consumed, it must be digested in the stomach for 8 hours and fully decomposed before consuming milk, and vice versa).
4. Kosher Dairy (Kosher products containing milk-derived ingredients)
Kosher Dairy means that the certified Kosher products contain milk ingredients (accurate to the smallest trace level). According to the Old Testament of the Jewish Bible, meat cannot be consumed at the same time as milk (if meat is consumed, it must be digested in the stomach for 8 hours and fully decomposed before consuming milk, and vice versa).
5.Glatt Kosher
Glatt Kosher - Glatt is a Yiddish word meaning smooth and refers to beef from cattle slaughtered according to kosher dietary customs, with no lung lesions. Jewish consumers are very strict about accepting only high kosher standards, requiring all kosher meat products to be "Glatt." Glatt is often mistakenly used to distinguish between foods with high kosher standards and those with less stringent kosher certification.
