Countdown to the 4th International Halal Symposium begins in Nigeria

Organised by the Halal Certification Agency (HCA), the seminar brought together stakeholders from the halal industry at home and abroad to discuss emerging issues.
At a press conference announcing details of the event, Professor Ibrahim Oreagba, Chairman of the Halal Certification Agency, said the workshop marked a significant milestone in HCA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the understanding and implementation of halal standards across industries globally.
Professor Oreragba, former Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology at the College of Medicine, Lagos (CMUL), has revealed that the much-anticipated seminar will be held on August 14, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja.
“The halal industry has seen significant growth over the past few years, not only in food and beverages, but also in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, logistics, tourism, and other areas of the halal ecosystem. This growth highlights the growing demand for halal products and services, reflecting the expanding Muslim population and increasing awareness of halal principles among consumers of all backgrounds.
Professor Oreagba noted that the theme highlighted his organization’s commitment to promoting growth, development, innovation and sustainability within the Halal industry.
“We recognize that in order to meet the evolving needs of consumers and address global challenges, it is critical to integrate sustainable practices and cutting-edge technologies into our operations.”
The seminar will feature a diverse panel of speakers, including industry experts, academics, and business leaders, who will share their insights and experiences on the latest advancements in the halal certification process, emerging trends in halal products, and the role of technology in enhancing transparency and efficiency in the halal supply chain.

Professor Oreagba said: “One of the main objectives of this symposium is to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
