2025-05-15
Indonesia is one of Southeast Asia's largest economies, with a population of over 260 million. It is one of the world's largest potential markets for blockchain technology, digital assets, and financial technology.
To provide quality assurance and track the end-to-end supply chain of halal products and services, Halal Chain, a technology company powered by IoT, blockchain, and smart contracts, was warmly welcomed by Blockchain INDO 2018 participants.
From May 11th to 12th, 2018, the event was the first and largest blockchain conference held in Jakarta, bringing together 1,500 attendees and over 40 global speakers to share insights on current blockchain updates and provide case studies on the technology’s implementation.
HLC Technologies, headquartered in Dubai (UAE), caters to the demand for halal products not only in the food industry but also in a wide range of other halal products such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
During the two-day event, people were keen to learn more about Halal Chain’s data acquisition, storage and analysis processes, and how end consumers can gain better transparency and food safety awareness through data, and use it as a solution to provide accurate quality measurement of halal products.
According to the Thomson Reuters 2016-2017 Global Halal Economy Report, the global halal economy is valued at approximately US$3.9 trillion, with Indonesia ranking among the top 15 existing markets.
Today, the word Halal has become closer to the Ummah(Ummah,A transliteration of Arabic, originally meaning nation. The earliest Muslim theocratic regime), not just as a spiritual ruling, but as a way of life. Many consumers today, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, are becoming aware of and actively seeking more information about the measurements and benefits of halal/healthy products.
Leading Indonesian halal food industry player Perwiramata Group recently signed an agreement with HLC Technologies to implement the Halal Chain solution as a pilot project in the country, with more interested halal manufacturers keen to collaborate with HLC Technologies to strengthen their premium brands and market and express strong confidence, thereby bringing better transparency to end consumers and the market.
