Kosher food manufacturing reflects humanistic care

I was writing weekly for My Sixth Sense magazine when I stumbled upon a Facebook post that changed my career. Lech Cohe, a Boca Raton native, was traveling to New York City with her son, AVI, who needs special care. She had hoped to dine out at a renowned kosher restaurant, but her son was being loud and disruptive, preventing the experience from continuing. When she contacted Elan Kornblum, he quickly contacted Victor Ebadi, owner of an upscale kosher grill and the restaurant where Cohe had been planning to have dinner. Victor arranged everything, responding, "Your son is my son!"

Victor Ebadi's restaurant opens an hour early each day to feed families in need. Leah writes, "Elan, Victor, and Chef Sammy sang along to Avi Cohen's 'If You Knew You Were Happy...' at least ten times, which was very touching." This story reminded me of how retailers in this industry often provide free food to nearby poor people, how restaurants often quietly package meals for needy families, and even how food manufacturers discreetly reduce prices for families experiencing hardship. This is only part of the story, but it makes me proud of the kosher food industry.
