UAE: IHAF meeting discusses strategies to expand halal food trade

International Halal Certification Forum (IHAFThe council held its first meeting in Dubai on Sunday, with members discussing internal regulations, future strategic directions, initiatives, and upcoming work plans that will help promote regional and international outreach.
Its goal is to expand trade in halal foods through a multi-faceted identification mechanism. The Council reviewed the many achievements of the Forum’s Secretariat and its Steering Committee since its establishment last year, as the world’s first international network for halal products.

He pointed out that the existence of the forum will help increase the trade of halal products, enhance the credibility of halal certificates, and enhance halal trade and industry around the world. He pointed out the importance of the global forum held in the UAE.
“The UAE’s participation in the forum contributes to the realization of the nation’s vision of promoting the Islamic economy in the world,” he said.
The successful holding of the Forum has given the UAE an important role, along with the establishment of a strong quality foundation and an appropriate legislative system in the field of standards, which has enabled the country to actively participate in international and regional standardization bodies.
