The 2014 China (Qinghai) International Halal Food and Products Exhibition was held at the Qinghai International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 15th to 18th. Themed "Green Leap Forward, Win-Win Cooperation" and "A Window to the Halal Industry, a Collaborative Platform for Green Development," the exhibition showcased well-known brands and new products from participating companies through product displays, trade negotiations, technical cooperation, and interactive exchanges, highlighting the latest achievements in the development of the halal industry across various regions. The exhibition aimed to provide a platform for economic and trade exchanges and cooperative development for Chinese and foreign merchants, and to promote the healthy development of the halal industry.
The exhibition area of this expo is 30,000 square meters, with a total of nearly 1,000 booths. 960 companies from 37 countries and regions and 28 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) participated in the exhibition, including 116 exhibitors from 24 foreign countries.
Meanwhile, Xining, Haidong, Haixi, Haibei, Hainan, Golog, and Yushu prefectures in Qinghai Province, along with the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, the Xining Economic and Technological Development Zone, Chengdong District, and Datong County, held special exhibitions featuring 170 participating companies. Fourteen companies and organizations, including Qinghai Baide Food Co., Ltd., Qinghai Green Grass Source Food Co., Ltd., and the Qinghai Halal Food Industry Association, showcased their corporate image.
It's reported that Qinghai Province has nearly one million Muslims, accounting for one-fifth of the province's population. Approximately 90% of these live in the Hehuang River Basin in eastern Qinghai, centered in Xining. Currently, Xining City has over 2,000 companies and individual businesses producing halal food and supplies, accounting for 60% of the province's total. The halal industry's output value is nearly 3 billion yuan. The product variety of the halal food industry is constantly expanding. Currently, 97.3% of China's more than 2,400 counties and cities have halal food businesses, with approximately 120,000 food and beverage businesses operating, including over 6,000 specialized food production and sales businesses.
