(Kuala Lumpur, 26th) JAKIM withdrew the Halal certification of the famous cake chain Secret Recipe, but the reason was unrelated to the use of non-compliant ingredients.
According to a statement issued by JAKIM this morning, the bureau withdrew the Halal certification on 7 May, but emphasized that it was withdrawn because the chain was found to have violated hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and stressed that it was unrelated to the cake chain using non-compliant ingredients.
In any case, JAKIM also stated that although the Halal certification was withdrawn, this does not prevent the cake chain from reapplying after making improvements, and the bureau will conduct an inspection and reassess whether to issue Halal certification again.
The bureau also called on consumers not to make various speculations or spread false information.
In addition, JAKIM also reminded all operators holding Halal certification to ensure compliance with the regulations, otherwise the bureau will not compromise with any operator who violates the regulations.
