The K-ID is a digital Kosher certification letter. It is the key that makes a paperless certification process possible.
What does it do?
The K-ID allows you to transmit a Kosher certification letter to a customer, a certification body, or anyone else with a simple ID, without transmitting on paper. Recipients of a K-ID are automatically notified of changes and updates to the Kosher certification letter it represents.
How does the K-ID work?
An ingredient that has already obtained Kosher status has, or can have, a 7-letter K-ID assigned to it, which represents the publicly available Kosher information about it. Thus, the K-ID is similar to an ingredient's social security number. This means that if you know an ingredient's K-ID, you can obtain all the publicly available Kosher information about that ingredient.
How do you obtain a K-ID?
Agencies that use KCert to manage their Kosher certification information automatically provide K-IDs for all the products they certify. This information is printed on the Kosher certification letter, as well as on your product list displayed publicly on Digital Kosher.
How is security ensured?
The K-ID identifier is randomly generated by the Kosher ID system and has no discernible pattern. Therefore, it cannot be predicted or guessed by anyone. In addition, the code can only be provided to customers by the supplying company that certifies the product, and the only information a K-ID provides is information already made public on the Kosher certification letter. Therefore, there is no risk involved, because no proprietary information is disclosed. Instead, it is a secure and revolutionary technology that will greatly reduce the time needed to process and approve certification forms.
