The International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF) is an independent, non-governmental network of accreditation bodies required to implement HALAL certification standards in their countries and regions.
IHAF's goal is to protect the growing number of Halal consumers and promote international trade, laying a solid foundation for the global Halal food and non-food industries.
IHAF is headquartered in the UAE and is led by the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) and the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). IHAF maintains that greater cooperation between regional and international organizations is key to creating a HALAL industry that is strong, stable and reliable, and able to meet the needs of global consumers and businesses.
In its current state, the global HALAL industry is driven by various certification bodies and conformity assessment bodies in the public and private sectors, all of which aim to ensure that HALAL products are properly labeled and certified.
IHAF is committed to leading HALAL certification practices globally by harmonizing HALAL standards and practices worldwide and reaching global agreements among certification bodies. This will make it easier for goods to flow between countries and create a Halal market that consumers can trust.
