Following the Halal food certification cooperation agreement between China and Malaysia, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), the Port Klang Free Zone, and SM International Wholesale (China) Center Co., Ltd. reached an agreement in trilateral talks held on Monday.
Hakimah binti Mohd Yusof, a senior official at JAKIM, said that Halal certification is not only a religious belief but also a guarantee of food safety and human health, and said she hopes Muslim organizations in China and Malaysia will work hand in hand to achieve results.
Thousands of excellent Halal food manufacturers in China have not been able to go abroad, precisely because of regional factors and the lack of a platform, said Xia Baowen, the operator of the Port Klang Free Zone.
Xia believes that cooperation with JAKIM will bring new opportunities to develop the international Halal food market.
