As Singapore''s sole Halal certification authority, MUIS ensures that every certified facility maintains strong Halal assurance. About MUIS

MUIS (Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura) was established in 1968 and, in 2009, became a statutory board under Singapore''s ministry responsible for community development, youth and sports. Its main role is to advise the President of Singapore on all matters concerning the Muslim community and to administer them under the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA), safeguarding the interests of Singapore''s Muslim community. Since 1978, the MUIS Halal Certification Strategic Unit has managed and regulated Halal certification in Singapore as the sole administrator. In 2007, MUIS issued more than 8,000 Halal certificates.

Singapore''s MUIS HalMQ is a systematic and forward-looking Halal certification system. Its revised version took effect on 1 March 2008 for both local and international clients and is benchmarked against international quality standards such as ISO and HACCP.

HalMQ is based on the Singapore MUIS Halal standard

General principles for handling and processing food (MUIS-HC-S001, religious section) + general principles for developing and implementing a Halal quality management system (technical section) = the Singapore MUIS Halal Standard.

HalMQ follows ten principles
