Indonesia's Import Verification Program (VPTI): Purpose, Legal Basis and Scope

The Import Verification Program (VPTI) is designed to ensure that import licenses and/or related supporting documents match the actual condition of a specific import consignment. This verification is carried out by inspectors authorized by Indonesia's Ministry of Trade. The result of the verification is an inspection report (LS), which is one of the documents required for import. VPTI is conducted in the loading country, the port of loading in the country of origin, bonded zones or special economic zones (KEK), and is carried out in accordance with the Regulations of the Minister of Trade applicable to each category of goods subject to VPTI requirements. The scope of VPTI includes at least the following: verifying and confirming data consistency and administrative document consistency identifying goods specifications/standards through qualitative and/or quantitative analysis other required data and/or information Administrative verification is carried out by the KSO SCISI head office and the executor's Hub Office, while physical verification of goods is carried out by the inspection office located where the goods are situated.
