Case overview

At a series of events during the 2025 Indonesia Retail Summit and Expo on August 27, the Chief Secretary of Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) delivered a speech continuing to encourage the non-food sector to prepare for mandatory Halal certification by the October 18, 2026 deadline.

Case study

On the global trade stage, Halal certification has become an important passport for many enterprises entering international markets, especially the Muslim consumer market. Halal is no longer only about religious belief; it has gradually become a lifestyle. According to the 2024/2025 State of the Global Islamic Economy Report (SGIER), the Halal industry has continued its rapid annual growth in recent years. Global Muslim consumer spending spans not only food and beverages but also non-food sectors such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, travel, fashion, consumer goods and Halal lifestyle, and this figure will keep rising, offering broad business opportunities to companies that produce Halal-compliant products.

With SINOQUAL's assistance, Quanzhou Tianjiao Maternal and Infant Hygiene Products Co., Ltd. launched its Indonesia BPJPH Halal project. A large maternal-and-infant hygiene-products manufacturer integrating R&D, production, sales and service, Tianjiao is one of the industry's leaders, with two decades of experience in the hygiene-products field. Sensing the growing demand for hygiene products in the Muslim consumer market, Quanzhou Tianjiao, together with its two production bases Hubei Tianjiao and Quanzhou Tianyue, obtained Indonesia-recognized Halal certification for its products to meet the Indonesian government's mandatory Halal requirements.

After understanding Tianjiao's needs, SINOQUAL quickly assembled a professional team to study the company's production processes, raw-material procurement and product techniques in depth. For the hygiene-products industry, Halal certification requires that the entire manufacturing process, from raw materials to production techniques, complies with Halal standards, avoiding cross-contamination with non-Halal substances during production, storage and packaging. Drawing on professional expertise, the SINOQUAL team helped the company standardize document management, build a Halal production system, mitigate potential risks in the certification process, and ensure that every detail met Indonesia BPJPH Halal requirements.

During certification, SINOQUAL provided on-site accompaniment for Quanzhou Tianjiao, Hubei Tianjiao and Quanzhou Tianyue. Facing rigorous scrutiny from Indonesian official auditors, SINOQUAL's professionals accompanied the process throughout, helping the company communicate effectively with the auditors and promptly answering their questions to ensure a smooth audit.

Products with Halal certification not only meet the requirements of Muslim consumers but are also synonymous with cleanliness and safety. Their strict production standards and quality assurance are winning favor among a growing number of non-Muslim consumers, and certification represents a strategic opportunity for enterprises to expand markets, build consumer confidence and strengthen product competitiveness in an era of global free trade.
