In a major move to strengthen the quality assurance of HALAL products, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's BPJPH-HALAL and Singapore's MUIS-HALAL respectively.
The second Memorandum of Understanding, with Singapore's MUIS, mirrors the objectives of the first MoU, focusing on conformity assessment of HALAL certificates, standard specifications and technical regulations. It also emphasizes mutual recognition of exported local products and the exchange of specialized expertise in various fields related to HALAL product quality assurance. SFDA's Hisham Aljadhey and the CEO of Singapore's MUIS signed the MoU witnessed by Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.
Both agreements demonstrate the commitment of the parties involved to strengthening cooperation to ensure the quality and recognition of HALAL products.
SFDA's efforts, including the establishment of the Saudi Halal Center, align with the initiatives of the National Transformation Program, aiming to facilitate import and export procedures and support the global competitiveness of local products.
