On November 13-14, 2019, the WHC held its 17th annual General Assembly in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

WHC currently has 29 official members, with 15 new members in the process of applying. WHC provides an excellent platform for all Halal certification bodies around the world, allowing Halal bodies worldwide to come together and get to know one another.

At this meeting, different certification bodies discussed some very important issues in Halal certification, including animal welfare. Maulana Zeeshan Ali Khan also shared his experience and concerns regarding animal welfare in Halal slaughter.

All members unanimously agreed that all certification bodies worldwide should have uniformity in Halal certification and should have unified Halal certification standards. HFC Vice Chairman Tahir Iqbal also shared HFC's vision, which is consistent with the wishes of the assembly members—'to become a Halal certification body with awareness of high Halal standards, committed to growing into a symbol of complete trust for enterprises.'

HFC is very grateful to the organizers of WHC for granting HFC observer status at this annual General Assembly, laying the cornerstone for officially becoming a WHC member in the near future.

We would especially like to thank the organizers of this event, Ms. Naili, Moulana Saeed Navlakhi and Mr. Habib, for the support and cooperation they provided throughout the event.

Good achieves good

We are deeply grateful for WHC's continued support of HFC. We hope WHC can develop further and bring all certification bodies together to become the benchmark for global Halal certification. We also look forward to HFC officially becoming part of WHC in the near future.

At next year's WHC 21st anniversary celebration, we will meet again!
