Federalimentare says Italian food producers benefit

(ANSAmed) - Milan, June 9. Federalimentare, the Italian National Food and Beverage Producers Association, held its third meeting on Tuesday at Expo Milano 2015 for Italian food and beverage producers and international buyers, highlighting the business opportunities in Halal and Kosher food production.

Halal certification or Kosher certification for food production follows Islamic or Jewish dietary laws respectively, and Tuesday's meeting included buyers from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

'In the Middle East, consuming products that are Made in Italy is a status symbol,' said Giovanni Aldorni, director of promotion and internationalization at Federalimentare. 'Some (Italian producers) already have all the necessary characteristics for certification, but they don't know it and they don't take advantage of this business opportunity,' he said. (ANSAmed).
