Muhammad Aqil Irham, head of Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), said that by 2024, three types of products must be Halal-certified.
The first category is food and beverages. The second is raw materials, food additives, and supplementary materials for food and beverages. The third is slaughterhouse products and services.
'These three product groups must obtain Halal certification by October 17, 2024.' On Friday, February 3, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website quoted Aqil as saying: 'If they are not certified and are distributed in the community, they will be subject to sanctions.'
Aqil explained that the sanctions to be imposed include written warnings, administrative fines, and withdrawal of goods from circulation. Aqil said: 'This is in accordance with Government Regulation No. 39 of 2021 [PP].'
'Therefore, before mandatory Halal certification is implemented, we urge all business actors to immediately manage the Halal certification of their products,' Aqil added.
