Indonesia's Halal certification body BPJPH is considered the only statutory Halal certification body in Indonesia. BPJPH is an agency under Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs. The 2014 Halal Product Assurance Regulation stipulates that BPJPH is responsible for protecting the integrity of products imported, circulated and traded in Indonesia. As Indonesia's only statutory body, BPJPH has the highest authority over Halal regulations/standards and systems in Indonesia.

Indonesia's Halal certification follows Halal regulations, standards and decrees to ensure products are Halal. Once a Halal certificate is obtained, the new version of Indonesia's Halal certification logo is required to be attached to the product packaging.
Indonesia Halal Certification Process
1. Halal Certification Application
Submit the BPJPH Halal certification application form and related documents.
2. Review and Audit
The Halal certification body confirms the documents submitted by the applicant. If there are no issues, it goes to the applicant's manufacturing facilities (company and factory) and conducts an audit of the raw materials/facilities according to standards required by the government-recognized audit authority.
3. Issuance of the Halal Certificate
Once it is determined that all requirements are met, BPJPH will issue the Halal certificate to the applicant.
4. On-Site Inspection
After the goods arrive in Indonesia, document review is conducted at customs and relevant agencies.
If all documents are complete, import is permitted.
Halal Assurance System (HAS)
Indonesia's Halal system is called HAS. HAS perfects the system that operators prepare, maintain and implement to ensure Halal status; its implementation can well help enterprises ensure their products always maintain Halal status and avoid Halal non-conforming products. The purpose of HAS is to continue the Halal production process in a form consistent with Indonesian regulations.
For operators to obtain Halal certification, the prerequisite is the establishment of a system corresponding to HAS. It must also be implemented after Halal certification is obtained.
