Jakarta - The Halal laboratory of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has obtained the SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 testing laboratory accreditation certificate. It was presented directly by S. Achmad, head of the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), to BPJPH head Muhammad Aqil Irham, combined with the opening of the Pratama Halal inspection coordination meeting.
BPJPH head Muhammad Aqil Irham said that since early 2022, BPJPH had been preparing for the accreditation certificate, starting with benchmarking against the IPB laboratory, sharing knowledge and experience; then it submitted the accreditation letter and went on to complete some of the required equipment. "Alhamdulillah, tonight we received the SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation certificate. We had actually initiated and prepared through document fulfillment and adjustments to standard test methods. Alhamdulillah, we have received this accreditation certificate," Aqil said in Bandung on Monday, April 10.
S. Achmad, head of the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and chair of the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), expressed gratitude for BPJPH's acceptance of the accreditation certificate under Mr. Aqil. "Congratulations to BPJPH on reaching the competence standard as a laboratory. If the BPJPH laboratory submits an accreditation certificate, I will attend in person, because this is a historic record for Indonesia, especially for the Halal ecosystem," Achmad said. He also stated that after accreditation, the results of BPJPH testing will gain international recognition. In addition to the ILAC MRA mark, there are two other marks on the accreditation certificate. The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) is an international organization responsible for accrediting institutions and conformity-assessment bodies operating under ISO/IEC 17011. "Of the 35 schemes owned by BSN/KAN, 15 have gained international recognition, one of which is the standard testing laboratory scheme, meaning that the test results of the Halal laboratory are internationally recognized, including supporting the mutual recognition arrangement (MRA) conducted around the world," he continued. Also present at the BPJPH accreditation were BSN/KAN laboratory accreditation director Agustinus Praba Drijarkara, BPJPH EA secretary Chuzaemi Abidin, JPH development and supervision center head Dzikro, Halal cooperation and standardization center head Abdul Syakur, and 45 LPHs from all the major regions of Indonesia.
