The Professional Certification Body (LSP) LPPOM MUI, as the trustee of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), is increasingly ready to face the expanded scope of the certification program under Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance (UU JPH) in implementing professional certification.

Now, LSP LPPOM MUI has begun to expand the scope of its certification program, namely Halal auditor certification. Within this scope, LSP LPPOM MUI is the only body certifying Halal auditors, who will inspect products for Halal status under the authority stipulated in Article 10 of the UU JPH. On Friday, BNSP commissioner Muhammad Zubair witnessed this at the Global Halal Center building in Bogor (17/5).

According to Ir. Nur Wahid, M.Sc., head of LSP LPPOM MUI, the Halal auditor program becomes a milestone in Indonesia's Halal certification process; in Indonesia, auditors will be nationally certified and recognized. In terms of competence, Halal auditors were previously selected internally by LPPOM MUI, and are now objectively selected by an independent body under the management of BNSP.

Meanwhile, BNSP commissioner Muhammad Zubair said that auditor certification is an important step to ensure qualified auditors. This Halal auditor certification program is the first in the world.

"The certification of Halal auditors is to ensure that auditors are competent to inspect Halal products. The assessment of these inspections must take into account the world and the future, so their competence must be ensured," Zubair continued.

In addition, Muhammad Zubair said that auditors' qualification certificates currently apply globally, including in ASEAN, China and India.

As is well known, LSP LPPOM MUI has been certified by the Indonesian National Professional Certification Body (BNSP) since 2017, with the number BNSP-LSP-664-ID, applicable to the scope of Halal supervision. Currently, LSP LPPOM MUI is certifying within the scope of Halal auditors.
